Reflections from the Boundary Waters
What an adventure these past four days have been. Little did I know signing up for this trip meant new lifelong friends, learning how to build a fire, how much work canoeing is, how to survive with all boys and how well a group of kids can become so close and willing to help each other out with whatever they needed in such a short amount of time. Each morning we woke up when the sun woke up, ate breakfast and headed out for the day. We took day trips canoeing about 3 miles one way, spending our time there doing things like swimming, fishing, skipping rocks, laughing and enjoying the wildlife all around us, then paddling back. One of our day trips consisted of going to Canada! And yes we had to stop just to take a picture with the "Welcome to Canada" sign. Each night when we got back we had dinner and then did daily devotions around the campfire giving all of our attention to God. I learned that water is everything. Jesus is all around us, and living through water. Without it and him, we would be nothing. It was so amazing being surrounded by nothing but fresh air, God's creations, and people who share the same love and interest in their faith as I do.
